The Department of Mathematics is one of the oldest and most established departments at RVCE, having been founded in 1963. It has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of RVCE by providing high-quality education and contributing to cutting-edge research in both theoretical and applied mathematics. Currently, the department has a team of 24 faculty members, 23 of whom hold Ph.D. degrees, supported by dedicated staff.

Faculty research interests span diverse areas, including Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, and Computational Mathematics. As an accredited research center under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), the department has twelve approved research guides, actively mentoring several research scholars. This combination of teaching excellence and innovative research underscores the department's significant contributions to the academic community.
